LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Thursday morning, following a day of deliberations, a jury returned a guilty verdict in the trial of a Lakeport man who was accused of stabbing his neighbor to death because he wrongly believed the man was a child molester. Ivan Garcia Oliver, 34, was found guilty of first-degree murder, burglary and several special allegations for the stabbing death of Michael Dodele. The jury found him not guilty of a charge of elder abuse. Full Article

Is it possible for SOs to get together a class-action lawsuit for having the lives put at risk, etc.? Is this too far-fetched? Probably. Frustrating.
This is a truly disturbing story. The sad part of all of this is that an innocent bystander was fatally murdered due to misidentification. This isn’t the only incident where this has occurred and probably not the last. The Megan’s Web Site is truly flawed. Vigilantes are alive and unfortunately out there. Its highly disturbing to think that there are Registered Sex Offenders out there with families who could potentially be exposed to similar circumstances. I can only hope that people take a look at whats happening and wake up!
